Moose 93.1 and mytimminsnow.com lend a hand to get food bank back open – My Timmins Now
“Local matters” to us at Moose 93.1 and My Timmins Now Dot Com. That’s why we sprang into action when the South Porcupine Food Bank lost all of its stock to smoke damage in a fire early Friday morning.
“We have to destroy everything,” says board member Claudia Bouvier.
“We had seven freezers full of food, it’s all gone,” she says. “Canned food too has to go?” asks My Timmins Dot Com’s Bob McIntyre. “Everything, yeah.”
Bouvier was working this morning with Moose promotions director Matt Fisher, accepting donations of food and cash outside our station at Cedar St. and Third Ave.
“I’ve been there 20 years and I am devastated with this,” Bouvier remarks. “All these people we used to feed, and the children. I don’t know anymore.”
Bouvier is optimistic that collections like ours will go a long way to getting the food bank back into operation soon.
Matt will be joined by more volunteers tomorrow and Wednesday between 10:00am and noon, continuing with it.
