Island Health bounces back to near record high of new cases found – Nanaimo News NOW

NANAIMO — A dip in new cases of COVID-19 discovered within Island Health was temporary.

Another 28 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed by Island Health on Wednesday, Jan. 13. This is up significantly from the 17 the day before, but in line with high numbers seen since the first week of January.

There’s currently 196 active cases out of Island Health’s 1,182 total.

Roughly two-thirds are found in the central Vancouver Island area where 130 cases are active. The central Vancouver Island area has had significantly more cases than anywhere else within Island Health throughout the pandemic.
